This course familiarizes students with the Linux and Unix environments covering system administration and user management. Students will start with isolated machines then learn how to interface a Unix system with a network. Advanced topics include the configuration and administration of email and Web servers, as well as techniques for the automation of system administrator tasks via scripting languages. All students will have root and console access to real machines, thus they will gain real networking experience.
