No one is required to do a 10 hour week; some tutors may wish to have a lighter load. Please Take Note That A Tutee May Not Receive More Than Two Hours of Tutoring Per Week in A Given Course. (The Counseling Service will not subsidize for more than 2 hours per week per course).
PROCEDURES
ASSIGNMENT OF TUTORS TO CLIENTS:
Students submit a registration form to receive tutoring at the Counseling Office (Marjorie Donald, Room 214). Students are assigned on a rotational basis so that the distribution of tutoring assignments is even.
The tutors are informed by email as tutees are assigned to them. (Please make sure to check your e-mail regularly.) As soon as you are assigned a tutee, please contact them in order to arrange your sessions. Tutor and tutee make arrangements as to time and place of their sessions.
TERMINATION:
When a student has stopped receiving tutoring (i.e. explicitly announces termination OR goes 2 weeks without contact) you should inform the Peer Tutoring Coordinator. This allows us to assign other students who may be on a waiting list.
GETTING PAID:
Tutors are paid every two weeks (direct deposit). Your hours are reported onto time sheets which are recorded and sent to the Business Office to be processed. You must report your hours once a week (by the latest Thursday at 4:00 p.m.) to the Counselling Service. Please note that in order for your personal time sheet to be processed, you must have each of your tutees initial each tutoring session.
YOUR OWN TIME MANAGEMENT:
Remember that in this program, you are limited to a MAXIMUM of 10 hours of tutoring time per week. You are a good resource in this program as long as you stay healthy and don't overextend yourself. REMEMBER: You should indicate to the Coordinator, the number of hours you wish to tutor per week so that the appropriate number of tutees will be assigned to you during the semester.
