Denise Clarke: Sign Language: a Physical Conversation

Denise Clarke is a celebrated dancer, actor, choreographer and creator.  An Associate Artist and permanent member of One Yellow Rabbit performing ensemble, she has created and co-created many acclaimed shows including CD Dance, Breeder, The Erotic Irony of Old Glory, Sign Language and Featherland.  She is also the director of the Summer Lab Intensive School since 1997 and has taught master classes and lectured, most recently at the University of Regina, Queens University, UC-Drama at the University of Toronto and the Quebec Drama Federation, as well as this year at Bishop’s. 

Other work includes choreography for Theatre Calgary and Alberta Theatre Projects in Calgary, Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre, Crows Theatre and the Canadian Stage Company in Toronto.

Deborah Meyers of the Vancouver Sun writes: “You only have to watch her for one minute to know that she understands the body’s power to speak through movement, and it only takes a few minutes more to realize she is harnessing this power in ways that are seriously, unusually authentic…Sign Language is a brilliant physical essay on fear and desire.”

Raoul Bhaneja: Hamlet (solo)

Raoul Bhaneja is an accomplished actor and award-winning musician.  Bhaneja’s theatre credits include Tarragon Theatre’s Helen’s Necklace and the Domino Heart; his television credits include several series leads including recurring roles on Runaway (The CW) and The Dresden Files (Sci Fi).  His feature films include Atom Egoyan’s Ararat, Godsend, Touch of Pink and The Sentinel, opposite Michael Douglas and Wierdsville, directed by Allan Moyle premiered at Slamdance.

Raoul will appear in the CBC mini series The Summit opposite Christopher Plummer and Bruce Greenwood.
