BISHOP’S UNIVERSITY SET TO HOST MAPLE LEAGUE FOR FIFTH ANNUAL UP FOR DEBATE WEEKEND

From February 10th and 11th 2017, Bishop’s University will host the fifth annual Up for Debate, a weekend where members of the Maple League will examine this year’s theme: The Maple League Prepares U4 Advocacy.

The weekend’s activities will explore how higher education should support students as they become global citizens. The Maple League schools are united in a shared vision that promotes social justice and human rights for all members of the community.

Packed with activities to suit every taste, the event promises to be stimulating and thought provoking. Activities include:

  • A conference by criminal lawyer Marie Henein;
  • A student debate tournament in the Canadian Parliamentary style where Bishop’s hopes to win the Jane Blaikie Cup for the third consecutive year;
  • TEDxBishopsU, featuring speakers drawn from the talented pool of students, faculty, alumni, community members, and staff from the four universities; and
  • A Business CASE Competition.

All four universities in the Maple League are dedicated to maintaining and enriching the quality of undergraduate education and to improve the overall experience offered to students through innovative, sustainable, and transformative action.
