BISHOP’S UNIVERSITY KICKS OFF ANNUAL CENTRAIDE CAMPAIGN

Bishop’s University is launching its annual campaign for Centraide today, setting its goal at $12,000. Five percent of the funds raised will be directed to student services to help students with urgent needs.

The Dean of the Williams School of Business, Ms. Francine Turmel, is spearheading this year’s campaign. “Our team of volunteers will be canvassing everyone on campus, including faculty, staff, and students,” she said. “We’re fortunate to be able to count on so many people, many of whom worked for the campaign in previous years.”

Ms. Nadia Choubane, campaign director for the public sector at Centraide, and Mr. Yves Jodoin, chairman of the board of directors at Centraide and former Secretary General at Bishop’s, were present to launch the campaign with Principal Michael Goldbloom, C.M., and Dean Turmel.  Two individuals gave heartfelt testimonials about what Centraide means to them and how past campaigns have impacted the Lennoxville organizations that have helped them.

In addition to the launch, the organizing committee has planned two fundraising activities on campus during the three-week campaign, including a fun-filled lunch hour on Wednesday, October 12 where everyone on campus can participate in a run, a yoga class or a zumba class.

“We are counting on the spirit of generosity that is synonymous with our University and its people,” said the Dean. “We invite everyone to consider a donation and to participate in the upcoming activities.”

Centraide is a not-for-profit organization that raises money to support local organizations that help break the cycle of poverty and social exclusion.
