Bishop’s University and Brescia University College sign MOU

London, ON – An agreement has been finalized between Bishop’s University and Brescia University College, which allows students who have successfully completed Brescia’s Preliminary Year Program to qualify for automatic admission into one of Bishop’s undergraduate programs effective Fall 2017.

“We are delighted to partner with Bishop’s in providing this new and effective pathway for our students,” says Marianne Simm, Brescia’s Vice-Principal Students. “Beyond their existing pathways at Western and our affiliate partners, Brescia’s Preliminary Year students, who are predominantly international, will now have the opportunity to pursue their post-secondary education within a similar and intimate, supportive liberal arts environment.” Simm goes on to say, “We have been incredibly fortunate to welcome so many students from around the world to Brescia and to have forged such an important partnership with Cultureworks that has helped make our Preliminary Year Program the success that it is.”

The memorandum of understanding, a first of its kind for the Preliminary Year Program at Brescia, will allow students who have successfully completed Brescia’s Preliminary Year Program to receive automatic admission and directly enter one of Bishop’s undergraduate programs.

Brescia’s Preliminary Year Program is a co-educational foundation year program, which helps young women and men acclimate to campus life, university courses and lectures.

”This partnership is beneficial to Brescia, Bishop’s and of course the students in both the Preliminary Year Program and at Bishop’s. With Brescia being an all-female University College, male students naturally have to look at other post-secondary options. This agreement provides not only male students, but ALL Preliminary Year Program students with an option to experience post-secondary studies in another part of Canada in a similar, intimate environment”, says Dan Seneker, Bishop’s Director of Enrolment Management. “We look forward to welcoming these students and have them join the Bishop’s community.”
