2009-2010 Events

September/October: You may have seen SAA at the 2009 Homecoming Football game this year? We were selling alumni t-shirts, painting kids faces, running a play area for children and giving away great BU paraphernalia to alumni. We also helped promote the Donald Lecture Series on campus and the Top 10 After 10 program.
Besides the madness of Frosh and Homecoming, SAA was hard at work putting together Purple Tag Day – a new event that helped raise awareness to students and showed them how much alumni & friends contribute to at our school by tagging objects, buildings, and people who wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for their support.
Check out Purple Tag page to find out more and see the campus when it was tagged purple.
SAA will also be participating in student calling for the Advancement Office (a paying job by the way with incentives). Stop by McGreer Building, Room #130 - down the hall from the Business Office, on the main floor, see Craig Leroux, last door on the right.
NOVEMBER: Once Purple Tag Day was completed, next on the agenda was our event around National Donor Recognition Day. SAA set up a table in the Student Union Building on November 16th in honor of this special occasion - an opportunity for students to recognize our most generous and supportive alumni and friends. Students passing through the building signed “thank you” cards made out to the alumni, then they were mailed out. The event received a nice response from alumni who were appreciated of the initiative. Some even requested to contact the student who wrote them their card.
DECEMBER: Exam time! We're all studying hard and/or going to the multiple Christmas themed parties – including an SAA Social (which are held at least once per semester), a casual get together at the Lion where SAA can catch up, talk about more upcoming events and take a much needed break from studying.
JANUARY: We'll be settling back into the routine and planning the semester activities. Our big project for the semester will the grad gift program. We will be asking each graduate to make a contribution to a chosen designation (yet to be determined) on campus. Much of the planning for this will be done in January.
FEBRUARY: Winter Homecoming is February 20, 2010. Community winter event (TBA).
MARCH / April: Grad receptions for all 2010 Grads.
APRIL: Exam care packs, year end SAA party, Quapalouza (providing students an opportunity to sell furniture...before heading home for the summer) and finally exam time.
