The Esprit de Corps Award replaces the University Service Award. The Esprit de Corps Award is presented to an alumnus/na who has made a difference, through contribution to Bishop's, the alumni association, a local chapter or the broader community. This award is to recognize those who continue to demonstrate the values and lessons learned at Bishop's related to compassion for others, community spirit, responsible citizenship, fostering life-long learning and friendships. The Alumni Association wants to recognize those who are serving in some capacity, in addition to their regular work or hobbies, to make the world a better place. We want to recognize those who continue to shine the spirit of Bishop’s in their corner of the world to let them know that their efforts are appreciated and that fellow alumni are proud of them.
For anyone who has attended Bishop's University, we know there is also something uniquely special about the Bishop's experience that goes beyond achievement, leadership and excellence. There is a certain kinship or camaraderie that exists amongst its alumni regardless of where one's life journey has taken them. There is a certain connection that forms a special bond to the University and to others who have either gone before or come afterwards. As such, the ‘Esprit de Corps’ award was created to be part of the Alumni Recognition program.
2012 Recipient: Stan Groves '81

Stan Groves’ support of alumni events and promotion of Bishop’s over the years has been admirable. He has demonstrated a great willingness to support the University, participating in events throughout the community, at the Lion Pub, and on campus.
His continued support of various University clubs and teams and his welcoming and enthusiastic attitude towards student initiatives exemplify the qualities recognized by this award.
