Alex Paterson receives the Commander’s Medal of the Ordre de Montréal

Bishop’s University is proud to announce that Alex Paterson, O.C., O.Q., Q.C., Ad.E., has been awarded the Commander’s Medal of the Ordre de Montréal, at the Order’s first official ceremony, held on May 17, 2017 at Montréal City Hall.

Dr. Paterson obtained a bachelor of arts degree from Bishop’s University in 1952 and a bachelor of civil law degree from McGill University in 1956.

He served Bishop’s University with energy and devotion over several decades. He sat on the Bishop’s Corporation from 1967-88, including terms as Chair of the Executive Committee and President of the Corporation. He was Chancellor from 1995 to 2004, and reappointed to Corporation in 1995. In 1974 Bishop’s awarded him its highest honor: Doctor of Civil Law (honoris causa).
