Christina has completed her Masters in Sociology at York University and purchased a new home with her husband Christian Meredith (BU graduate). She is now a full time faculty member at Georgian College in Barrie Ontario. As a Learning Strategist Counselor she supports students with specific learning disabilities in the development of meta-cognitive skills essential for academic success. In addition to being a Counselor Christina continues to share her passion for Sociology and Women’s Studies by teaching college level courses including: Gender Relations, Social Psychology and Peer Counseling. She writes: “The Sociology Program at Bishop’s University was instrumental to my success both in the pursuit of a Master’s degree and in my professional accomplishments as a counselor and a teacher. Unique to my Bishop’s experience were small class sizes and the opportunity for regular interaction with professors. Increased faculty contact facilitated the exchange of ideas and opinions as well as a more in-depth examination of issues and problems. Considering that most undergraduate students never have the opportunity to meet their professors, this degree of student-faculty contact gave me the opportunity to engage in intellectual discourse, creative and effective dialogue that in turn supported my developing a passion for Sociology. The Sociology program at Bishop’s was ultimately a very rewarding experience for me.”
