Bianca Gonsalves (Class of 1999)

Bianca completed her Masters of Education Degree at Ottawa University in December 2004. She writes: "I am currently a Sessional Professor at Seneca College -- The King City Campus -- just north of Toronto. To date I have taught Remedial English Communication and will be teaching Introduction to Sociology and Introduction to Psychology in the Winter 2005. I am also tutoring English and Study Skills at the College Learning Centre". Previously Bianca served as an academic mentor at the Peer Learning Centre at Ottawa University where she ran workshops in English Writing. She also performed in the University's first ever production of the Vagina Monologues. She has traveled to Mexico, Venezuela and Greece. Bianca continues: "I count myself lucky to have received a good foundation at Bishop’s. I learned a lot of valuable skills over the course of my undergraduate degree that have served me well. The discipline of Sociology has served as a springboard from which I chose my careers: First in Human Resources and then Teaching. Through Sociology I gained a love for interacting and working with people. I continue to be fascinated by group behavior and thrive on team environments. Through my upper year Sociology courses, I also gained a love for seminar learning and for presentations - - skills that I continue to use in my professional life. I now teach these skills to others. I quite miss those days at Bishop’s -- they will always be a part of me".
