Ann completed her Masters in Sociology at McMaster University and worked for the Department of National Defense at the Royal Military College in Kingston. While at RMC she met her husband (Edward Hollett) with whom she now lives in St. John's Newfoundland. She writes: “Since living here, I have worked in several different areas within government and at Memorial University.  All the work I have done since leaving school has been research based.  Some of the fields I have worked in include: economics, education, the fishery, and nursing. Currently I am the research analyst for the health promotion/protection division of Health and Community Services, Eastern Region.  My husband is a public affairs/media relations consultant with his own business in town. We have two wonderful, outgoing and energetic children.  Philip (1993) and Emma (1998).”
