Andrea Christensen (Class of 1998)

Andrea completed a Master of Divinity Degree in the Seminary of the University of Toronto. Since her ordination in May 2001 she has been a priest at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Ottawa.  Andrea still enjoys waterskiing and boating and has taken up photography.  Andrea writes: “I am enjoying ministry immensely.  I find it challenging to be sure, but extremely rewarding as well.  My degree in Sociology has equipped me to deal with the issues that arise in the church because these solely involve people.  As you probably know, we are dealing with the issue of same-sex blessings right now.  A very hot topic and one which allows the observer to really see the passion that lies at the core of every human. …I traveled to Israel/Palestine last spring with five other clergy from the Ottawa area.  We went to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian Christian people.  We also attended a peace conference. It was most life-changing trip I have ever been on, I learned some of the hardest lessons, and stood amongst so much violence and brokenness.  Even though these people deal with so much hatred and poverty, they are so rich in faith. More than I could have ever imagined.”
