Mike completed a Master Degree in Social History from the University of Ottawa. For the past 12 years he has been working for the federal government, first with Environment Canada, then with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (8 years), and for the past two years with Fisheries and Oceans, Canada. Mike writes: “presently I am working as a Senior Policy Analyst with the Aboriginal Policy Branch of Fisheries and Oceans. I’ll soon be moving over to the Habitat Management Branch to work on the Aboriginal Inland Habitat Program. …We live in Gatineau and most of our free time at our lake. We were lucky to buy a whole lake to ourselves (in Val des Monts) about 30 minutes from our home. …What I remember most from my years at Bishop’s is the time I spent talking with Melissa (Clark-Jones) and Kris as well as Louis-Georges Harvey and Robin Burns from History. They each had a profound influence on me and how things have turned out. What they taught me through those conversations cannot be taught with a textbook or in a classroom. That is the essence of Bishop’s.” Mike is married to Lynn Hogan (BU graduate) a Chartered Accountant in the employ of the federal government at CIDA since 1993. They have a daughter (Jessica).
