Rick is entering the final year of a Law Degree at the University of Western Ontario. He writes: “At present, I am applying for jobs in London, Ottawa and Toronto within the areas of Labour and Employment Law.  My sociology degree has helped me put law into a social context and to see the bigger picture with regards to the law and what it can do to help those who cannot help themselves.  While many at Western concentrate on the business and corporate aspects of law, I find that sociology has been a great compliment in that it allows me to use many of the things I learned at Bishop’s in examining class issues at law school and beyond. Indeed, if it was not for the professors and sociology program at Bishop’s, I would not have had such an interest in union-side labour and employment law, a field which is growing at an exponential rate.
