Demitri Douzenis (Class of 2002)

Demitri completed a Master of Arts in Diplomatic Studies at the Diplomatic Academy of London (University of Westminster). There he was founding President of The Diplomatic Academy of London Students’ Association and served as President of the Bishop’s University Alumni Chapter. He writes: “Through the DAL, I had the opportunity to attend meetings at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, the European Commission and meet with several Ambassadors in formal and informal settings. I also met with a Justice of the International Court of Justice at the Peace Palace in The Hague.  … In my training as a Diplomat, my previous sociology studies have proved to be an asset in my experiences of cross-cultural communications.  My studies have created and instilled in me an appreciation for other cultures, in fact, a thirst to explore and understand them in even greater detail. Thanks to having this sociological perspective and outlook, my perception of the world is much deeper than it would be otherwise.  …I must pay tribute and give many thanks to BU, especially the Politics and Sociology departments, for giving me not only the tools, but the inspiration and confidence to achieve my goals, and continue to set higher ones.  Thank you!”  Demitri is currently at the Bond School of Law in the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia.
