Facilities

The Library
The Politics and International Studies Department is supported by very good library resources. Eighty-eight periodicals combined with 144 related periodicals ordered each year by the Departments of Sociology, Economics, and Psychology gives Politics and International Studies students access to 232 journals in their fields of study. In addition, the Library provides an excellent monograph collection for undergraduate studies in Politics and International Studies. The Reference Department of the Library has numerous paper and electronic (CD-ROM) indexes of particular interest to Politics and International Studies students. In addition, the Government Documents Department of the Library is a partial deposit library for Canadian and Québec government documents.

The Social Sciences Computer Lab
As students of the Division of Social Sciences, Politics and International Studies students enjoy access to the Social Sciences Computer Centre (SSCC). The SSCC is a state-of-the-art "smart room" which has been constructed on the main floor of the Nicolls Building (N110). All of the computers have access to the software on the Bishop's University network. In addition, their C drives are loaded with the latest statistical and social science software used by the departments of Politics and International Studies, Geography, Psychology, and Sociology. The SSCC is used by Social Sciences professors to teach some courses. When it is not being used as a classroom, the SSCC is used by students for their own work assignments. The lab is equipped to support 24 students on individual workstations.

The Cole Computer Centre
Politics and International Studies students also have full access to the facilities of the Cole Computer Centre in Hamilton 150, the small computer lab in the Nicolls Building (opposite the Social Sciences Computer Lab) - N117 and the Business Computer Lab - N111, as do students of other Divisions.
