The Political & International Studies Association
Every student belonging to the Politics and International Studies department is automatically a member of the Political & International Studies Association (PISA). The PISA holds annual elections to elect their representatives. These representatives serve to promote the interests of the politics body as a whole. This usually involves organizing events to create a greater sense of community, organizing events to create awareness, acting as an intermediary between the students and faculty, informing students about department affairs, representing the politics students across campus, etc.
Some of the events organized by the PISA during the 2010-2011 Academic Year:
- In the fall of 2010, the PISA hosted the Politics Wings Night at the Golden Lion Pub and a Politics Wine and Cheese at the Uplands Museum to create a setting where students could interact and get to know their professors better.
- In February, the PISA organized a trip for Politics and International Studies students to visit the Quebec National Assembly. Activities included sitting in on Parliamentary Question Period, taking a guided Parliament tour and listening to Quebec Minister of International Relations Monique Gagnon-Tremblay address the Bishop’s University group.
- In March, the PISA held the Battle of the Bands at the Golden Lion Pub. The Battle of the Bands saw four bands compete for the title.
- In April, the PISA held the Politics Formal at the Chou de Bruxelles for graduating students and faculty.
