Bishop's University Geographical Society (BUGS)

In addition to the academic programme of the Department, the Bishop's University Geographical Society (BUGS) organizes more informal field trips, social events and career information activities. This is a student-run organization that receives financial support from the Students' Representative Council, and the moral support and involvement of the faculty members of the Department. BUGS is renowned for sponsoring an annual excursion to climb Mount Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire!

Jacquelyn Davy - 1st Year Geography

"So far in my career here at Bishop's I have appreciated the uniqueness of the Geography Department. They get everyone involved, whether it be a horseback riding trip or a BBQ. The Prof's are also great and always willing to help with a smile. The size is great because you have the chance to interact, and the Professor actually knows your name. This is basically why I chose Bishops, and I have not been proven wrong yet about how wonderful the atmosphere is here!!!"

Leah Davis - 3rd Year Geography

"Due to its small size, this Geography Department provides extra special attention to its students. This way we benefit from the expertise and accessability of our profs."

Hope Wharry - 3rd Year Geography

"Where else can you take a geography course with only five students in the class?"

Phil Slater - 4th Year Geography

"I feel that the Geography programme at Bishop's is enhanced because of the setting of the school. The Eastern Townships of Quebec provides a diverse landscape which allows for extended field studies."
