String theory being a unified theory of all matter and interactions, should give us a way to understand how the universe came about. In this talk, I will start by discussing the basics of this theory and then sketch a possible way how this theory could in principle explain the concept of “inflation” that underlies the origin of our universe.

THIS TALK IS GENERAL IN NATURE AND IS INTENDED FOR UNIVERSITY OR CEGEP STUDENTS
