Monte Carlo methods are used to simulate complex physical and mathematical systems by continually recalculating a given system’s key functions with the aid of randomly generated numbers. In the cases where traditional numerical techniques cannot be used, Monte Carlo methods can offer an alternative way to obtain key results. This talk will explore the history of Monte Carlo methods, the general approach used to create a Monte Carlo simulation, and current applications of Monte Carlo methods.
