Through numerical simulations based on stellar theory and using supercomputers, we are able to theorize about the way binary star systems interact and evolve. For certain initial conditions, the resulting evolutionary tracks are stable. However, given an alternate set of initial conditions, the resulting evolutionary tracks may be highly erratic and unstable. This presentation will explore the theory behind Binary Star Systems (Cataclysmic Variables) and the assumptions under which we are studying these systems.
