I will discuss our current understanding of the history of the Universe from its birth to the present epoch. In particular I will describe the recent exciting discoveries that show us that the Universe is not only expanding but that it is accelerating. This necessarily requires the existence of a 'Dark Energy' for which we have no terrestrial experience.
The talk will be presented at an elementary level and the general public is strongly encouraged to attend.
