Travel Bursaries

Thanks to 7 very generous benefactors, Travel Bursaries have been made available to support students participating in exchanges. 
 
Nuestra America Travel Bursary: will be awarded annually as a travel grant to a student/s pursuing a major in Hispanic Studies who participates in an International Exchange at a Spanish American partner university for the duration of one or two semesters.

Nuevos Recuerdos Travel Bursary: will be awarded annually as a travel grant to a student/s pursuing a major in Hispanic Studies who studies at a partner university in Spain for the duration of one or two semesters.

Viva ESPANA Travel Bursary: will be awarded annually as a travel grant to a student pursuing a major in Hispanic Studies who studies at a partner university in Spain for the duration of one or two semesters. 

Ray Jensen Travel Bursary:  will be awarded annually as a travel grant to a student/s studying at a partner university in either France or Spain.

Goldberger Global Experience Travel Bursary:  will be awarded annually as a travel grant to a student/s majoring in Modern Languages.

Haslett Travel Bursary:  will be awarded annually as a travel grant to a student/s majoring in Modern Languages.

Gavin Ross Memorial Travel Bursary:  will be awarded annually as a travel grant to a student/s majoring in Modern Languages.

Application deadline: June 15, 2013
Travel Bursaries will be offered to students demonstrating financial need.

DAAD Scholarship

Deutscher Akademscher Austausch Dienst is a scholarship available to Canadian students participating in an exchange to Germany.

Quebec Ministry of Education Bursary Programme for Short-term University Student Exchanges Outside Quebec

Objective
To encourage students to gain international experience by completing a semester or year abroad while participating in an academic exchange programme.

Bursary
Bursaries will be allocated to Bishop's University students selected to participate in a recognized academic exchange abroad during the Fall or Winter semester.

Requirements

  • Must show proof of Quebec residency;
  • Must be registered as a full-time degree student at Bishop's University as well as have achieved a minimum cumulative average of 70% prior to leaving for an exchange;
  • Must register or have registered in a full-time course load (equivalent to that of a full-time course load or completion of 12 - 15 Bishop's University credits) while abroad.

Bishop's University Scholarship Renewal

A student on a recognized Bishop's Exchange must complete a 30 credit (or equivalent, determined by the Divisional Dean) course load at the exchange institution with a first class average for awards under $3000 or with an average equivalent to 85% for awards $3000 or more. Please speak to your Dean prior to leaving for an exchange.

Loans and bursaries and University scholarships are tenable during an exchange providing that students do not take an academic semester off prior to leaving. Travel grants through Bishop's University as well as the Provincial Government of Quebec are available to students. Please inquire through the International Students Office.
