Department of Philosophy
The bulk of Dr. Crooks’ published work over the past decade has been on Heidegger and Plato. He has also written on postmodernism, German Idealism, Nietzsche & Heraclitus. He is currently engaged in two projects:
- A book on ethics—with chapters on Plato, Boethius and Kierkegaard—exploring the connection between moral life and recollection. This project grew out of a course in which the original goal was to criticize the modern tendency to reduce ethics to the education of judgement.
- A collection of essays on the Platonic dialogues developing readings produced for upper level seminars and for the Bishop’s Plato group.
