(Class of 2004; Major Modern Languages with concentrations in German Studies and Hispanic Studies/Minor Italian Studies)
Currently I'm a real estate developer in Mexico and have been doing this for the last 3 years; business is excellent. I also own in Quebec a small furniture factory specialized in murphy beds and I'm working on exporting my products.
Knowing different languages opens many doors job wise but it also does in a more personal way, should it be culture, open-mindedness to the world, travel and so on. I was offered a job with the German Consulate and also with an export commission company and this due to the fact that I speak 6 languages. Nevertheless, as I have an entrepreneur soul, I decided to fly on my own and don't regret it a minute. With "globalization" in expansion, a BA in Modern Languages is a big plus, more than one can imagine. Furthermore, obtaining a BA in Modern Languages gives you much more than the knowledge of many languages as you get the opportunity to study literature, film, theatre, history, geography, and much more and this in the languages of your choice.
