(Class of 2007; Major Hispanic Studies/Minor German Studies)
I am currently registered in a one-year Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. This diploma will allow me to teach languages at the high school level. I also work part-time teaching French for Christchurch’s Alliance Française.
My B.A. in Languages was a prerequisite to be admitted into the graduate programme. Thanks to my B.A., I am now fluent in four languages (French, English, Spanish and German) which seems to impress my colleagues here in New Zealand quite a lot! On top of all the advanced courses I took at Bishop’s, my two semesters abroad in Alicante, Spain and Bamberg, Germany have certainly contributed to my fluency in those languages as well as to my ability to adapt to different cultural environments, an asset one cannot underestimate when going on the job market.
