Graduate Certificate in Teaching Intensive English as a Second Language (TIESL-EIALS)
In accordance with the recent changes made by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport to the elementary and secondary pedagogical curricula, and in collaboration with the office of Continuing Education, the Bishop’s University School of Education has developed this graduate certificate in order to provide the needed ongoing professional development for in-service ESL teachers.
In collaboration with specialists, researchers, and ESL teaching practices, this program focuses on the ownership of interpersonal and linguistic skills, the development of communication strategies, and interactive activities between the teachers and students.
This program commits to developing and perfecting the:
- Knowledge of and skills in the pedagogy of teaching ESL;
- Comprehension of new trends and theories in teaching ESL;
- Pedagogical leadership for implementing an ESL program.

A certified teacher, an educational administrator, an undergraduate, or a graduate from an approved university may apply to the Graduate Certificate.
At least two years of professional teaching experience
