Tomorrow’s managers (today’s Bishop’s students) will need to develop a broad vision of the world and its structures, as well as be familiar with new strategies and management practices of the future. The International Business concentration builds on the existing strengths of the core curriculum and International Business concentration courses by offering cognate courses in disciplines such as Political Science and International Economics to provide the worldwide perspective essential to transnational managers.
To be accepted, students must make a formal application to the International Business Concentration Committee. Normally, students should apply after the successful completion of 15 credits in a 90 credit Business program and after 30 credits in a 120 credit program and have a minimum cumulative average of 70%. A requirement of students accepted into the International Business concentration is to study abroad as an exchange student for a minimum of one semester, and a maximum of two semesters. It is recommended that International Business concentration students include language courses in their free electives. The exchange component combined with the emphasis on managing across cultures, economies, currencies and various governments” policies will introduce the student to the current issues, problems and solutions that contemporary managers face in a global world.
