The following criteria have been set forth by the Bishop's University Co-operative Education Office in conjunction with the guidelines produced by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education:
- All work placements must be remunerated.
- Work placements must be between 12 and 16 weeks at full-time hours (typically 35 hours per week).
- All work placements should reflect a valuable learning experience and environment.
- Supervisors of co-op students should be available to provide guidance and support through out the work placement.
- Supervisors must be available to complete a final evaluation of the co-op student.
