English writing proficiency

The Writing Centre has moved to MacKinnon 125. Just enter MacKinnon by the front door and follow the signs to the Writing Centre.

The Writing Centre offers free appointments for students who would like help with written assignments (the Consultation Service), and free Workshops to help students improve their written work. We also conduct the EWP Exam, which evaluates the level of a student’s writing, and offer the course EWP099, which helps students address their writing problems in small tutorials.

Help with Assignments

The Writing Centre offers free 30-minute consultations to help students with any written assignments and to review their EWP Exam.

To all Bishop’s students:

Where:  The Writing Centre is located in MacKinnon 125.

How:  Use the online booking system. Click the ‘Book it!’ button below. Bring a printed, double-spaced copy of your assignment to the appointment.

When:  Appointments are available from Mondays to Fridays.

What:  Get help with planning, organizing, outlining, sentence structure, grammar, referencing and citations.

Why:  Improve your writing skills, learn helpful writing strategies, cite and reference correctly, and practice for the EWP Exam.

Please note that the Writing Centre is closed over the summer months. EWP exams can be reviewed beginning in late August, and full services resume in September. If you have any questions, please email the coordinator (apetitcl@ubishops.ca).
