Bishop’s University is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Abenaki people.

Aerial view of the Bishop’s campus

Nestled amongst the rivers, forests, farms and the rolling hills of Quebec’s beautiful Eastern Townships, the University’s location features breathtaking vistas and possesses an atmosphere of rare beauty and charm.

Combined with exceptional indoor facilities such as bright and modern classrooms, art studios, theatres, laboratories, libraries, an observatory, art gallery, and stunning sports and recreation facilities, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy.

For the full campus experience, come and visit us during one of our open house events in the Fall or Spring, or request a personalized guided tour.

A Sustainable Commitment

Bishop’s University’s is proud to announce that as of spring 2023, our operations are carbon neutral! This is the result of years of strategic planning and effort from people across our campus.

Bishop’s campus

In the University’s most recent Strategic Plan, Bishop’s has cemented its commitment to “Preserve and enhance the natural and built environment”, so that we continue to be “…responsible stewards of this land… [ensuring] that our campus remains a home for wildlife and a haven for recreation. We will protect our natural areas so that subsequent generations of Bishop’s students and the wider community of the Eastern Townships will be able to enjoy them.”

Here are just a few of the projects/commitments that will sustain our natural environment:

  • A geothermal heating system that has saved over 1 million cubic meters of natural gas per year and 2,300 tons of CO2 per year compared to our 2006 consumption
  • Planting of over 10,500 trees as part of the Tree Care and Biodiversity working groups
  • Signatories of the Talloires Declaration (2010), Climate Emergency Declaration (2019), Sustainable Development Action Plan (2021)
  • Recognized as a FairTrade campus and a Carbon Care Certified Campus
  • Composting, recycling and waste management services
  • Peter Curry Wetland Conservation Project
  • Green Levy fund to encourage and support green initiatives on campus
  • Replacing campus owned and operated vehicles with electric/hybrid options
  • And so much more…

Learning and Leisure

Students working on the educational farm

With more than 550 acres of green space to discover, our campus is big enough for you to explore something new every day, yet small enough to ensure you can always find a friendly face to explore it with.

It also provides ample learning opportunities, from the Peter Curry Marsh Wetlands for students in the Environment, Agriculture and Geography program, to the educational farm for our newest programs in Sustainable Agriculture.

A Campus for All Seasons

Winterfest – an annual celebration on campus

Far from hibernating for the winter, the Bishop’s campus comes alive. With so much to do in the region, students take advantage of the season, including showing up for Winterfest, one of our most popular annual events!

Investing in the Future

Johnson building greenhouse – renovated in 2019

Since the early 2000’s, Bishop’s has invested over $200 million on campus, including;

  • John. H Price Sports and Recreation Centre
  • Library Learning Commons
  • Johnson building greenhouse and laboratories
  • On campus housing
  • Astronomical observatory
  • Classroom modernization
  • Campus infrastructure

A Campus Built for Community

The Pride crosswalk

Bishop’s is the choice of students from all over the world, with over 80 countries represented on our campus. We are committed to fostering an environment of belonging where individual differences are recognized, embraced, valued and integrated into all aspects of the University.

As a community of learning, the University has a responsibility not only to the intellectual development and academic support of its members, but also to the provision of a safe, equitable and compassionate environment for all those who comprise it.

Visit with Us

McGreer building

Families tell us that choosing Bishop’s is often the result of an in-person visit. That travelling through the Eastern Townships, walking the campus, seeing the facilities, and meeting the people is what solidifies their decision.

You are invited.
