Bishop's University to host Alouettes' Training Camp
Sherbrooke QC - April 23, 2010
The defending Grey Cup Champion Montreal Alouettes will hold their 2010 pre-season training camp at Bishop’s University. The camp will run from June 6 to June 18.
“Bishop’s University is proud to host the Alouettes on our campus,” said Tony Addona, Director of Athletics at Bishop’s University. “The camp will bring visibility not only to Bishop’s, but also to the City of Sherbrooke. This was one of the goals in our investment in the synthetic turf field – to bring high profile events to the area.”
The Bishop’s University campus and facilities are able to accommodate the demanding requirements for the Alouettes’ training camp. The team will stay in Paterson Hall, hold team meals at Dewhurst Dining Hall, use classroom facilities for team meetings, and of course enjoy extensive use of Coulter Field.
The Gaiter football program has a long tradition with the Alouettes. Hall of Fame coach Bruce Coulter played for the Alouettes before coming to Lennoxville, and a number of Gaiter greats also suited up for the Als including Nick Arakgi, Ray Bernard, Gary Chown, Tom Europe, Ron Perowne, and current Alouettes’ President Larry Smith.
The Alouettes last held training camp at Bishop’s University in 1976.
