A series of talks in English focusing on mental health
The 5 basic questions of Psychotherapy

September 28, 2012

Sherbrooke, September 28, 2012 – What is psychotherapy and who does it benefit? This is one of the themes that will be explored in a series of talks, each presented in English, which are focused on mental health services. At no cost to those who wish to attend, the talks aim to generate awareness of the services offered to Anglophones in the Eastern Townships region and to foster a better understanding of mental health and well-being overall.

“Anglophones account for a large part of the population of the Eastern Townships region,” explains Dr. Jacques Quintin, a professor at l’Université de Sherbrooke. “Experience in the field shows that a significant number of people in the region have no knowledge of the availability of mental health services in the area and consequently, they have trouble accessing the services in general.”

The W5 of Psychotherapy

The first of the talks in the series will take place Wednesday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Amédée-Beaudoin Community Centre in Lennoxville. Psychologist Natalie Goulet will discuss The W5 of Psychotherapy (Who, When, What, Where, Why). She will focus on the different reasons that motivate people to consult psychologists. For additional information, please contact Judy Ross at 819 565-3777 or by email at mentalhealth.estrie@bellnet.ca.

This series of talks is presented by the Formation réseau du Département de psychiatrie de l’Université de Sherbrooke, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology of Bishop’s University and Mental Health Estrie, a community-based organization.
