Bishop’s announces a new season of high-profile speakers
October 3, 2011
SHERBROOKE, QC—The new season of Bishop’s University’s acclaimed Donald Lectures kicks off next week with outspoken entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary. Set to speak in Centennial Theatre on Thursday, October 13 at 6:00 p.m., O’Leary will offer a glimpse into his life in business and provide insight into what it takes to successfully bring one’s own ideas to fruition.
Originally a Montrealer, O’Leary is a successful, high-profile entrepreneur and investor. He founded an educational software company, SoftKey, which he grew to great success and eventually sold for $3.7 billion. Today, he is an investor in many businesses and is the Chairman of mutual fund company O’Leary Funds.
O’Leary is well known as a straight-talking host and investor on CBC’s hit show Dragon’s Den and on ABC’s Shark Tank. He also co-anchors The Lang and O’Leary Exchange on CBC Newsworld.
“In addition to a fascinating life story, Kevin O’Leary has a wealth of experience in investing and building businesses from the ground up,” said Bishop’s Principal Michael Goldbloom. “His talk will be of interest not only to budding and established business people, but to anyone interested in what it takes to build successful organizations or to advance one’s own career.”
O’Leary’s lecture at Bishop’s comes just after the recent release of his book, Cold Hard Truth: On Business, Money & Life.
Bishop’s also announced the remaining line up for this year’s lecture series, which includes McGill professor of medical ethics and law Margaret Somerville, influential American civil rights activist Jesse Jackson, and world-leading cognitive scientist Steven Pinker.
