Bishop’s Launches Faculty Lecture "Tea & Talk" Series

Sherbrooke QC - September 22, 2009

Bishop’s University is pleased to introduce a new program designed to give community members an opportunity to attend special lectures by top professors, exam-free, while enjoying tea or coffee in the Periodical Room of the Library.

The monthly series, sponsored by Friends of the  John Bassett Memorial Library, will allow Bishop’s faculty members to share their  research and teaching in a relaxed environment. Tea, coffee and dessert will be  provided.

The schedule of lectures for the first semester  includes:

Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Dr. Jack Eby, Singing Psalms in the Chapel at Versailles

Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Dr. Loretta Czernis, The Silk Saga: an Introduction

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Dr. Claire Grogan, Means of Motion and Transmission: Transportation and Jane Austen

“We hope these public lectures will be a source of  stimulation and discussion for both the local and university communities.” said  Ruth Sheeran, Interim Chief Librarian, who established the new program designed  to bring more of the population onto campus.

All lectures will take place in the Periodical Room  of the John Bassett Memorial Library.
