The Corporation of Bishop's University regretfully announces that Dr. Robert Poupart, Principal, and the Corporation have parted company effective immediately.

The Corporation of Bishop’s University regretfully announces that Dr. Robert Poupart, Principal, and the Corporation have parted company effective immediately.

In accordance with the Rules Orders and Regulations of the University, Dr. Jonathan Rittenhouse, Vice-Principal Academic, will immediately assume the role of Principal on an interim basis, in addition to his position as Vice-Principal, until his retirement at the end of June 2008.

He will report on a weekly basis to a committee of Corporation chaired by Dr. Robert Gordon, President of Corporation.  The Corporation is presently working to put a new management structure in place as quickly as possible.

In due course, the search committee will meet to discuss the modalities of looking for a new Principal.

Mr. David Price, Vice-President of Corporation has agreed to constitute a group to carry on the work already underway with the Government of Québec regarding Bishop’s strategic plan for future development. 

The Corporation is confident that everyone in the Bishop’s community will pull together in a spirit of unity and cooperation as Bishop’s goes forward with its development plans.
